My Ancestry

Like so many other people, I have developed an interest in my ancestry. However, I can't afford to travel to far-away locations to retrieve information. I depend on the Internet and my maternal grandfather, Don Joaquín Agusty Ramirez de Arrellano, radio pioneer, who took the time many years ago to jot down some notes on our family history. Without these notes, I wouldn't even have an inkling. The history I have is one-sided; I lack the knowledge of my paternal roots. Someday, I hope to remedy that.

I have included a family tree based on my grandfather's notes and some data found on genealogy websites. It is quite basic and missing lots of information, so any insights you guys out there can share will be most welcome!

I have included the Ramirez de Arellano story related in his notes and expect to add additional stories on other surnames in the near future. Where I felt it was needed, I have added in italics some clarifying information. In addition, though it pains me to do it, I have eliminated accents in names to facilitate their Internet searches (one thing I didn't let go of was the letter "ñ" - I couldn't bear it!)

There are many names included in our tree; hope some of you might find this information useful in your own ancestral search. Remember: All information presented is subject to corrections.

Ciao,
